The Name: Fateh Garh

The Place: On a hilltop overlooking Udaipur, Rajasthan

What’s it like: Fantastic views over the countryside and lakes of Udaipur. Built using vastu, a kind of indian feng shui, looks like a Rajasthani fort with modern palace interiors. Huge comfortable rooms tick all the boxes are furnished with indian “antique” furniture.

What we love: The reasonable room prices and stunning views.

What to avoid: The lack of choice in the restaurant however a second restaurant will open in October which should fix that.

India Beat Verdict: Excellent value for money, a great choice for those not wanting to break the bank at the Lake Palace.
