The Name: Phillip Kutty’s Farm

The Place: A coconut palm covered private island floating in the middle of Kerala’s backwaters.

What’s it like: Six luxurious, traditional Keralan cottages right on the waterfront are surrounded by acres of coco and coconut plantation. You are looked after by Anu and her family, Anu’s mother is an amazing cook and gives lessons in the family kitchen.

What we love: Watching life on the backwaters float slowly by, eating incredible authentic keralan curries and meeting this charming family.

What to avoid: Monsoon, which can be utterly relentless in Kerala.

India Beat Verdict: Unquestionably he best place to relax on the backwaters.
