The majestic Himalaya stretches across the top of the subcontinent, the world’s highest mountains are both visually spectacular and culturally surprising. From the hidden Buddhist kingdoms of Ladakh and Sikkim to the verdant tiger reserves in the foothills of Himachal, the Himalaya are an unforgettable adventure. To get the most out of this dramatic landscape we recommend spending at least a week exploring, a great place to start is Glenburn Tea Estate, a wonderful 1500 acre tea plantation near Darjeeling. If you are looking for culture as well as dramatic scenery head to Leh, the capital of Ladakh, to visit the ancient Buddhist monasteries and towering stupas. Our favourite trips to the Himalaya include a 10 day trek at high altitude where we walked in the footsteps of a snow leopard and a leisurely walking trail through the foothills staying in villagers homes along the way.
